However, the company stated that the deceased passenger had no symptoms of gastrointestinal illness and that they are awaiting a full coroner’s report to determine the exact cause of death. The cruise had started its journey from Belfast, Northern Ireland on Friday and Liverpool, England on Saturday. According to the operator, the number of illnesses began to increase after passengers boarded in Liverpool.

The company further added that medical advice regarding gastrointestinal illness is being provided free of charge. In addition, the Bordeaux authorities have dispatched a specialized medical team and sanitation consultants to review the ship’s health situation.

Until the investigation and testing activities are completed, all passengers and crew have been instructed by local authorities to remain on board. Passengers will only be allowed to disembark once permission is granted by the authorities.
